News this week of Nike featuring NFL player Colin Kaepernick, as part of their “Just Do It” campaign has caused an uproar across the country.
IJR posted an article yesterday with Bottle Breacher CEO’s Eli Crane’s thoughts on this. As a former Navy Seal who served our Country for many years, he is among many servicemen and women that are upset with Nike’s advertisement. “It is ridiculous for Nike and Kaepernick to claim the football player had sacrificed everything for his protests during the National Anthem.” Eli Crane shares with IJR. Crane sacrificed while being deployed away from family in a foreign country several times, but is also very aware that many have even sacrificed their lives for Kaepernick’s right to freedom of speech, including friends he served with. “So go right ahead major corporations and sell more sneakers,” the three tour Veteran says to Nike. “Promote celebrity millionaires as those that have sacrificed everything for something they believe in as you sign them to million dollar contracts with their own clothing lines. We won’t even notice the blinding hypocrisy. We will, however, continue to stand for your right to do it, whether we believe or feel disrespected by the message.”
